Introducing EVERDAY MYSTICS
Today is Australia Day. Maybe not the most appropriate date to celebrate this young/old country I live in, but still a day to appreciate the gift of being Australian when so much of the world is in turmoil.
Whether you feel most at home by the sea or a river, the bush or the outback, the go-go-go of a big city or the homeliness of the suburbs, these are the places and spaces where God has written and painted your story. Maybe this Australia Day spend a few minutes recalling how place has shaped and given meaning to the way you personally relate to God.
I’m marking the day with the launch of my new book, EVERDAY MYSTICS.
It’s a smallish book, just 144 pages, the print is a readable size and the cover – well, see for yourself, below. It’s a dipping kind of book, something you can pick up and put down while you think about what you’ve just read, or might share with a friend.

EVERDAY MYSTICS is written from my belief that the mysterious life spark each of us brings into the world is a God spark, and it never stops flickering. It’s a reminder that the dreamer in us is also the mystic in us.
I believe that, unwittingly, religion can smothers this spark with words, rituals and prohibitions, making it a no-go area for just about everyone. With short chapters and using language that would feel at home around a kitchen table, I have endeavoured to link what is timeless in human development with a Christian spirituality that struggles to be recognised in twenty-first century everydayness.
The market for books like EVERDAY MYSTICS is limited so you won’t find it in a traditional bookshop, let alone Kmart or Big W. It has been published on Blurb, a company that allows writers like me to publish and sell their books online in the Blurb Bookstore.
